RE: ADMISSION OF STUDENTS TO HEALTH TRAINING COURSES HOLDING UNEB CERTIFICATES OF MORE THAN THREE YEARS
Health training institutions were taken-up by Ministry of Education and Sports from Ministry of Health with the regulation governing health training; Enrolled Nurses and Enrolled Midwives of 1992. This regulation required that candidates holding UNMEB Certificates of more than three years cannot be admitted for health training. This regulation barred many interested Ugandans from training despite the fact that they hold the required minimum entry academic qualifications.
The Ministry of Education and Sports has continued to receive complaints from various stakeholders over this matter.
A meeting of major stakeholders was convened and it was resolved that education is a right to all those meeting minimum academic requirements.
This is to inform you that all those concerned with admission of students to health training courses, should not reject those who hold UNEB certificates of more than three (3) years, and meet minimum academic qualifications.
