UPDATES FROM SECRETARIAT

Uganda Nurses and Midwives examination Board (UNMEB) wishes to communicate the following updates for your attention and compliance:-

UNMEB Circulars/Updates for December

1. REGISTRATION OF CANDIDATES FOR EXAMINATIONS

Dates of registration for end of Semester examinations remain 15th February to 15th April for June examinations and 15th August to 15th October for December examinations. Late registration will continue for 2 weeks with a
surcharge of 50% in the first week and 100% in the second week.

2. REDUCTION OF FEES FOR RETAKE PAPERS
The registration fees for retake papers for Certificate and Diploma candidates shall be Uganda Shillings fifty thousand only (Ugx. 50,000/=) per retake paper. This applies to both continuing and final semester candidates.

3. SUBMISSION AND MANAGEMENT OF CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT RESULTS
The deadlines for submitting CA marks are 1st to 30th May for the June series of examinations and from 1st to 25th of November for the December series of examinations. Mentors who supervise and sign students’ log books should be qualified Nurses and Midwives with a minimum of two years’ experience in the clinical area.

4. ISSUANCE OF TRANSCRIPTS BY THE BOARD:

Training Institutions have been issuing transcripts to students upon qualification. It was resolved that beginning with June 2019 candidates, UNMEB took over issuance of transcripts to all qualified candidates. Training institutions are therefore advised to desist from charging and issuing of transcripts to aforesaid
candidates.

5. APPOINTMENT AS UNMEB EXAMINER.
An appointed examiner posted at any examination centre should not delegate his/her duties. This is in breach of Section 5.2.2. (g) of the Regulations governing the conduct of UNMEB Examinations. The Board reserves the right
to appoint, deploy or replace any examiner when need arises. It is therefore important that such matters are brought to the attention of UNMEB Secretariat for proper management.

6. EXAMINATION EQUIPMENT
All examination Centres must have adequate equipment, commensurate to the number of students and space for the conduct of practical examinations. Schools without examination halls will meet the costs of extra invigilators or
hire big halls from the neighbouring institutions.

7. SETTING OF OLD PAPER COMBINATIONS:

Since the transition from the old paper combinations to the new paper combinations, the Board has been setting old papers alongside the new paper combinations to allow students with retakes to redo the papers they failed. The Board wishes to inform you that with effect from the June, 2022 semester examinations, no more old paper combinations shall be set. You are all urged to take note of this development. Any student affected by this change should be assisted to appropriately fit within the semester system.
