POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for admission to any Postgraduate degree are:

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
An Honors degree from an accredited degree awarding institution
Candidates who have a Pass degree should have at least a Postgraduate Diploma with at least a credit from an accredited degree awarding institution. Mbarara University Postgraduate Admissions

Additionally, for international applicants:

Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English, must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
Have a documentary evidence of Internship Training indicating disciplines and dates.

International applicants should have their documents verified by NCHE.

International applicants, should have their degree certificate and transcript translated and converted into an equivalent of Ugandan Universities’ CGPA
Be registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
A current certificate of good standing with the Medical Practitioners’ Council of the country of origin.

SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Faculty of Business and Management Sciences

1. Master of Business Administration

An honors degree

Sit and Pass the Graduate Admissions Test (GAT) of Mbarara University of Science and Technology

Faculty of Computing and Informatics

1. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Informatics

A degree in Computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Business Studies or a degree in other STEM-related fields from a recognized institution

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Health Information Technology

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Systems/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering or any other computing related field or other STEM-related degree from a recognized higher institution of learning

Mbarara University Postgraduate Admissions

A bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy and any other health care-related degree fron a recognized higher institution of learning

Mbarara University Postgraduate Admissions

3. Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems

A degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Computer Engineering from a recognized institution

A degree in any other STEM-related field with evidence of having taken acceptable courses in information systems

4. Masters in Business Informatics

An honors degree in Computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Business Studies or a degree in other STEM-related fields from a recognized institution

A good postgraduate diploma in Computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Business Studies or a degree in other STEM-related fields from a recognized institution

5. Master of Science in Health Information Technology

An honors degree in health care related field (e.g Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry) or Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology from a recognized institution

6. Master of Science in Information Systems

An honors degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent

Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies

1. Master of Arts in Development Studies

An honors degree in any development studies related discipline

2. Master of Arts in Local Governance and Planning

An honors degree in any development studies related discipline

3. Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology

An honors first degree

4. Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies

An honors first degree

Faculty of Medicine

1. Master of Medical Laboratory Science

An honors degree in Medical Laboratory Science
